Structural Health Assessment and Monitoring
Overview of Structural Health Assessment (SHA)
Structural Health Assessment (SHA) is a standardized methodology used to evaluate the safety and condition of structures in their current state. Soil and Structure Consulting provides expert SHA services with a team of skilled professionals who have successfully completed numerous SHA projects.
Key Steps in Structural Health Assessment (SHA)
- Review of Construction Documents to evaluate original design plans and any subsequent modifications.
- Visual Inspection of the building to identify visible signs of damage or wear.
- Field and Laboratory Testing to verify the material properties used in the structure.
- Analytical and Structural Analysis to assess the building’s overall safety and stability.
- Development of Repair and Retrofitting Plans, including detailed methodologies and material specifications.
In-Situ Testing Procedures
- Shear Strength Testing of Brickwork using the Flat Jack Method, if required, to assess the brickwork’s resistance to shear forces.
- Concrete Strength Evaluation using nondestructive testing with a calibrated Schmidt Hammer for measuring compressive strength.
- Foundation Assessment (width, breadth, depth, etc.) with testing to verify the foundation’s integrity when necessary.
- Rebar Diameter Measurement using the Digital Ferro Scanner, if required, to assess the dimensions and positioning of reinforcing bars.
